Vinyl Land’s Top 15 New Brazilian Vinyl Records of 2011

2011 was a great year for Brazilian music, specially on vinyl.

Even though there were still alot of good records that weren’t released in the format (we are working on it, don’t worry!), it’s definitely clear that the artists, labels (independent or not), Djs, collectors and music shoppers in Brazil are more and more aware of the importance and value of having their favorite music pressed to acetate.

The simple fact the we can now do a list of top 15 brazilian vinyl records already says alot (we had to do a top 15 instead of 10, that way it wouldn’t look so bad having all our releases in the list of course…). Just last year this would’ve been impossible probably.

Vinyl Land 3 Years – Bnegão e Seletores de Frequência 7″ Launch Party

Vinyl Land Records is coming to the end of 2011 with many reason to celebrate!

Its already been 3 years since the release of the first two 7″s from the Autoramas and The Dead Lovers Twisted Heart in the end of 2008, when we begun our mission to release the best of the new brazilian music on vinyl, one record at a time…

In this path we have  have pressed independently limited edition LPs and 7″s from artists like Tulipa Ruiz, Lucas Santtana, Graveola, Karina Buhr, Do Amor, Nina Becker, Lê Almeida, Curumin, Rock Rocket, Canastra, Fungos Funk and Fusile.

“Pólvora Negra” Soundtrack LP released this Sunday on Vinyl Fair in Vila Madalena

The soundtrack for the feature film “Pólvora Negra” (or Black Powder) directed by Kapel Furman will be released on vinyl by Clube do Vinil SP Records this coming Sunday 30/10/2011 on the Vinyl Fair for Vila Madalena in São Paulo.

The music was composed by Alan Ferres, best know for his drumming skills behind the kit with Rock Rocket. Recorded in his home studio on a 6 track AKAI 1/4″ tape recorder, the all instrumental score inspired by the film is infused with influences of Ry Cooder, Neil Young guitars, the raw sounds of The Cramps and the psychodelic nuances of Lula Côrtes and Zé Ramalho “PAEBIRU”.

Lucas Santtana on his way to the UK!

Lucas Santtana is set to do his debut gig in London/Uk in October.

After been released for the first time on LP last year by Vinyl Land Records, Lucas got singed to Mais um Discos which released his 4th album “Sem Nostalgia” and arranged his first ever gigs in the land of the queen.

He will play a secret gig on 30/10 and the Barbican on 31/10.

After an explosive gig with Nação Zumbi at Rock in Rio 2011, its time to finally release the “Efêmera” LP from Tulipa Ruiz.

The concert will be held at  Sesc Pompéia this friday 30/09, and will also showcase for the first time the music video for the song “Efêmera”, produced by Loja Comunicação

Lê Almeida “Mono Maçã” reviewed @ +Soma

The indiepop gem “Mono Maçã” by Lê Almeida, released recently on LP in a partnership between Vinyl Land Records, Transfusão Noise and Midsummer Madness, has just received an excellent review in +Soma.

Already deemed as “one of the best brazilian rock records of 2011″ by the site, the review also goes on to talk about Lê’s carrier so far, as well as his own label, the “Baixada Fluminense” scene and his other bands…

Vinyl Land Records Artists @ Rock in Rio 2011

Vinyl Land Records artists TulipaBnegãoCurumin and Karina Buhr are all scheduled to play at this years Rock in Rio, the 4th edition held in Brazil in the festival’s history.

Considered the biggest festival in the world (attendance wise) , this year’s bill include a wide variety of mainstream artists as usual, but also features some of Brazil’s best contemporary acts in the Sunset Stage.

Lucas Santtana, Do Amor and Tulipa return from successful Argentina/Uruguay Tour

The Vinyl Land Records artists Tulipa, Do Amor e Lucas Santtana have just returned from a very sucessful tour in Argentina and Uruguay, where they participated in the international music fair BAFIM and played together in a great night showcasing the new brazilian music at the Niceto Club in Buenos Aires (with Tiê and Patrick Tor4 also).
